On a cold rainy Sunday last month, my family and I decided to do a day trip to Columbia, Pennsylvania to check out the Turkey Hill Experience. To my surprise, the visit turned out to be better than I imagined it would be. I originally, thought that it would be in like an old factory but it wasn’t. The facility is very nice, neat and clean and it was more than just ice cream tasting.
When you first go up the the stairs before actually entering the experience. There is a lot of information/history about the company. It also outlines their ice creaming making practice which I found very interesting!
I couldn’t quite fit in this car, but it’s so cute I couldn’t resist… lol 😂 They literally have something for all ages.
The cow in the above picture actually demonstrates how to milk a cow. I didn’t try it, I will take these girls word for it! 😂 Also, #seriousphotobomb
The ice cream tasting was awesome…As part of the experience, you can try different flavored ice cream. As many, as you want. (Not all flavors are available but they do provide a board of what’s available to try.) The first flavor I tried was cotton candy. It was soooo good. The salted caramel was also a good one, too. I highly recommend both but what do you have to lose…try them all! There is limited sitting in the ice cream area probably really smart on their part.
To my surprise you get try out tea and juices even if you don’t do the Tea Discovery! I didn’t know this but honestly it was awesome! I think their were about 8 different beverages you could try and there was no limit. I really thought the juice bar was a nice touch.
Honestly, this was a really great experience and I can’t wait to go back. The staff were very informative and nice. My favorite part, of course, was all the tasting and I can’t figure out which one I liked better the tea/lemonade tasting or the ice cream tasting. All good stuff!
Tips:
- Check online for discount tickets. Places such as Groupon, LivingSocial, CertifiKid and others like these.
- Note that Turkey Hill offers Military Discounts for both active duty and veterans.
- Call ahead if you want to do the Taste Lab and Tea Discovery to find out the times for these activities and if they still have space available.
- Oh and wear one of those white ice cream hats…it makes the experience feel more real!
