Hey guys! It’s been a hot minute since I’ve last posted on here. So much has happened since and I want to share some of the things I’ve been up to and also just give y’all a life update! First off, I have finished my freshman & sophomore year of college which has honestly gone by so quick. During my last few months of college I was able to get involved in so many different things also including securing two on-campus jobs for this upcoming year!
I was the Director of Marketing for Towson’s University Residence Government (URG) for my sophomore year. I got to serve on the board with other amazing and hardworking individuals. If you don’t know what URG is, or you don’t have one on your college campus, it’s basically an organization that is dedicated to making sure students are enjoying their on-campus living experience. This includes hosting events, taking feedback from students on things they want to see improved and stuff like that. While I won’t be the Director of Marketing for my junior year, I had an amazing experience working alongside amazing like-minded individuals.
For my junior year I will be the Membership & Outreach Coordinator for CAB (Campus Activities Board) which I am super excited about. I am going to make another post going more in detail about the position and the retreat I just went on with my new team. So, stay tuned 👀.
I am also involved in my University’s Her Campus Chapter which was one of the organizations that I was most excited about getting into when I started my freshman year. Her Campus has felt like my safe space and I have met and created friendships with the most amazing girls. They have been the most supportive, and kind people I have ever met! I serve on the social media team as well as the contributing writer team which is why I’ve had the opportunity to have my own articles published on the Her Campus website. I’ll provide a link to the articles I have written here.
Another huge thing that has happened is that I was able to land a paid internship last summer working at the Maryland office of the public defender. During my time as an intern, I’ve learned so much getting to shadow public defender attorneys and connecting with the other interns.
Lastly, for a few days in June last year I volunteered as a judge at elementary schools for their Simulated Congressional Hearings (SCH). SCH is required as part of the 5th grade curriculum only in Howard County, Maryland! This provides them the unique opportunity to learn about our constitution, the framers, and the overall development of the United States. Part of my role was to listen to their speech which would answer questions based around the constitution and I would then provide them with feedback about the things I heard in their speech that I liked. It was a really fun opportunity to be able to interact with incredibly smart kids and make their day by simply complimenting their hard work.
When I went back to school last year, I served as an Honors Orientation mentor at Towson University. I helped some of the incoming honors college freshmen move-in and served as a mentor for them as they got adjusted to college life!
Anyways, that’s basically a life update to fill y’all in on the last year of my life. I will be continuing to update my blog as often as I can now that I am back and everything has settled down. Stay tuned for more to come!
