During my spring break, we went to the Nashville, Tennessee area and one of the places we visited was Vanderbilt University. I went there with my family to see where my uncle went to college at. In the late 1980’s my uncle played on their football team. I think that it’s really cool that my uncle graduated from the tenth hardest school to get into in the United States. Visiting the Vanderbilt football facilities and seeing everything from the stadium to the rehab facility was so cool! I honestly had a really good time, and I’m now really starting to think about college choices even though I still have a some years to go.
During the tour I met coach Marc Mattioli. Marc is Vanderbilt’s Defensive Secondary Coach. Marc showed us around Vanderbilt’s sport facility! Marc showed us my uncle’s plaque from when he played in 1988. And when we go to the workout area, I got to see all of the equipment that the players use and I also got to play with a really fun speed bag! My favorite part of the tour was getting to go on the huge football field! It was so cool getting to be on the actual field!
A good lesson that I learned from this experience is that Coach Marc told me that I should stick with lacrosse (even if I’m not the best at it). I love lacrosse and I love the game and I could possibly become a really good player if I practice more and try harder. That was great advice I got to hear from a coach who is experienced in athletics. Hopefully in the future. I can go back to visit, or even attend one of their football games! I honestly had a really great time during my visit to Vanderbilt University.
