Happy Sock Sunday! It’s been a long couple of weeks. I recently traveled to Seattle, Portland, & Vancouver, B.C. for spring break. (Stay tune for a posts about my travel.) Since, I’ve been traveling, I haven’t had much time to get a lot of reading done. I’ve only read 7 books, so far this year and my goal for the year is 45. I’m hoping to really catch up this summer. I think, I will forego making a Spring Reading list and make one for the summer and fall months. My current goal is to at least have 15 books read by June 21st, which marks the first day of summer. My goal for summer is to read 15 books or more and finish the remainder of my goal during the Fall. Sometimes, life gives you curve balls and you have to learn to revise plans to reach the goals you have set for yourself.
Anyways, my next read is Rules by Cynthia Lord. I’ve heard so many great things about this book so I can’t wait to dive in!
Synopsis:
Twelve-year-old Catherine just wants a normal life. Which is near impossible when you have a brother with autism and a family that revolves around his disability. She’s spent years trying to teach David the rules from “a peach is not a funny-looking apple” to “keep your pants on in public”—in order to head off David’s embarrassing behaviors.
But the summer Catherine meets Jason, a surprising, new sort-of friend, and Kristi, the next-door friend she’s always wished for, it’s her own shocking behavior that turns everything upside down and forces her to ask: What is normal?
