Believe it or not, I spent my Sunday finishing the final touches of the Common App and finishing a few essays! I spent about 6 hours doing this when originally, I started this application the 1st day that it was open back in August. I finally buckled down and said, “You got this – So get it done!” and I did! Afterwards, I decided to check my email and I received a letter from my school’s National Honor Society Board saying Congratulations! I started to scream and laughed at the same time– I felt euphoric because I just went through drooling hours working on my Common App and Essays. My parents and my sisters ran in to see what all the Hoopla of my screaming/laughing combo was all about! I promise, I feel so rewarded.
I would like to thank Ms. Bobbi and her daughter Amber for starting Happy Helpers for the Homeless. Once I learned of this non-profit, I knew that one of their greatest needs – The Jean Drive was something I had to accomplish and at this point I have done it twice (on my own – not with a group)! I love clothes and jeans and I feel like it’s a passion of mine to clothe the homeless. I know that doing these jean drives (currently working on my 3rd) was instrumental in getting me in MRHS National Honor Society. I feel blessed to be given the opportunity to work with others who are also interested in giving back to our community. Our chapter has so many great volunteer opportunities right now – I am so excited I get to just dive in and not wait until I am inducted next month.
Anyways, I honestly didn’t think the board’s decision was going to come back before I was able to submit my college application. I AM STOKED. This will give the college admission board a glimpse of who I am. I am doing the HAPPY DANCE right now…WOOOHOOO!
